salted pistachio matcha latte
I tried a salted pistachio matcha latte at a coffee shop in Nashville, Tennessee and I was obsessed. The combination of flavors was so delicious, so I knew I had to recreate it at home, but with better ingredients of course.
Instead of using a sugary pistachio syrup and a dairy free barista blend with questionable ingredients, I used homemade pistachio milk. This not only made the latte dairy-free, but it also refined sugar-free without any unnecessary additives,
The homemade pistachio milk gave the latte a super creamy texture, almost like pistachio ice cream in latte form. I can’t get enough of it. The salt perfectly balances out the richness of the pistachio milk, it’s the perfect blend of flavors.
Whether you're a fan of matcha, pistachios, or just love trying new drinks, this Salted Pistachio Matcha Latte is sure to become a new favorite.
Tips for Making the Best Salted Pistachio Matcha Latte:
Matcha
It's best to use organic ceremonial grade matcha from Japan.
Some top-quality matcha brands to consider are Encha Matcha and Pique Matcha, both of which are known for their exceptional taste and quality.
Sweetener
The recipe calls for 1 Tbsp of maple syrup, but you can adjust the sweetener to your personal preference.
You can also use other sweeteners like honey, stevia, coconut sugar, or monkfruit, but keep in mind that this might slightly change the overall flavor of your matcha latte.
Salt
Be sure to use a high-quality salt, not regular table salt, for the best results.
Temperature
This recipe is for an iced matcha latte, but you can also enjoy it warm. When making a warm latte, heat the pistachio milk separately and do not heat up the entire latte. This is important because matcha can become bitter if exposed to high temperatures.
