About Me

Welcome to The Zesty Plate! My name is Janvi Patel and I love getting creative in the kitchen. When I’m not in the kitchen, I love doing anything outdoors, especially hiking, going to brunch and reading! Some of my favorite foods are watermelon, chocolate, pani puri, and pizza!

I’m very passionate about healthy living, but not at the cost of actually living. I don’t believe living a healthy life means you have to give up all the things that make you happy - even if that may be food that isn’t very nutritious. Personally, I focus on doing the best I can for my body 80% of the time, and don’t stress about the other 20%. For example, going to eat out every once in a while isn’t going to undo my daily progress. I value progress over perfection!

As an Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) certified health coach with a B.S. in biology, I help people heal their bodies so they can live their best lives. I also use my little corner of the internet to share all of my healthy, gluten free, and dairy free recipes!

My Health Journey

When I first started my healing journey in 2019, I felt as if I couldn’t eat anything anymore. I learned that I have PCOS, Hashimoto’s disease, hypothyroidism, and leaky gut. The one thing I knew was that I didn’t want to be on medication for the rest of my life. Instead of just taking a handful of pills to suppress my symptoms, I chose to go the natural route and actually heal my body. We needed to find the root cause for all my symptoms, so this meant starting with an elimination diet. It was very hard to find recipes online that actually fit my new diet, so I started creating my own. I started The Zesty Plate to share my recipes with the world in hopes of helping someone who may be in a similar situation as I was.

When people hear the long list of foods I can’t eat, I always get asked, “What can you even eat?” My answer - I can eat almost everything you can, just using different ingredients.

I know the healing journey can be hard, but The Zesty Plate is proof that it doesn’t have to be boring in the food department. You don’t have to miss out on delicious food to feel great!
